Potential customers in the UK are ignoring environmental issues when choosing their next car. According to a recent survey by online car resource, Carmony only 20% will consider green credentials.
Despite tax incentives, environmental issues being big news and manufacturers making their range cars ’greener', research reveals that price is a huge factor for 84% of customers.
"Before the recession, a growing number of consumers were taking into consideration green credentials when choosing a car. Demand for an environmentally friendly motor was high and because of this, we built it into the lifestyle search feature," commented Alan Hazelhurst, Managing Director of Carmony.
"But even though the worst of the recession appears to be over, consumers are still looking for the best deal, sacrificing the environment and choosing a car that suits the budget, not the green conscience. It will be fascinating to see if this dynamic continues, as the economy accelerates away from recession. But this research does reinforce the need for cost-efficiency in the environmentally friendly alternatives".

The average motorist getting 35mpg spends £1850 per year on petrol
the 1.2 petrol gets 50mog so that should be around,(back of fag packet) £1295
bluemotion, 81mpg (clap clap very good) £799
1.2 tax, £120 peryear
bluemotion £0
saving is about £620 per year, so assuming service costs are the same despite its specialised technology the 11th year is when it starts paying off.
Thats if the stop start tech is still working then
